Sunday Walk

Last weekend Kyle came and visited me in Richmond. I enjoyed the company. After church we weren't sure what do so we just started driving and ended up driving over the James river so we thought we would stop. We ended up at this park that was a walk/hike to a lookout kind of spot. The walk was beautiful and the leaves here are so gorgeous, but the river wasn't much to see. I took some pictures of the beautiful walk.

Here are some pictures of the James River although you can't really tell it's much of a river, but we didn't want to walk anymore because we had to walk down a ton of stairs to only turn around and walk back up.

And of course I had to be in at least one picture. The rest are me trying to get the very colorful leaves from the east cost. You don't see these pretty colors on the west side but Utah is still beautiful all seasons.

Finding Places to Eat

Not being able to make my own food or grocery shop requires us to find different places to eat. Eating at the same place gets boring. Even eating out every meal get boring. Anyway on Friday there were only three of us left over the weekend so we thought we'd try this place that had been talked about often, The Tobacco Co. Well I had seen it when we had gone to a different resaurant near by and
thought it looked pretty casual. Well I was wrong, although being the spacey person that I am didn't realize it until we were sitting down and it was pointed out to me. I started looking around and noticed most people were in suites and ties and really dressed up. Then we started looking at the menu and the appetizers were $14. Well we were already seated and it was on the company dime so even though we were underdressed we stayed. The food didn't end up tasting very well, but I did enjoy the atmosphere and it had a really cool old fashioned elevator. Plus the company was good and they kept me laughing most the night. So even though the food was overpriced and we didn't fit in, it was still a good dinner.

The pictures are of me and Joseph in the elevator and the view outside the window.

Doings

One of the things that gets me excited about doing a blog is to keep people up to date on my Travels. I am usually asked when I get back what I did, but I can't really remember all the little stories or random things that happened. Now I can share them here with whoever wants to read them. Hopefully I'm not a boring blogger.

Last weekend the hotel manager recommended we go to Carytown and gave us directions how to get there. So we got in the car and followed the directions down to a cure little street with small ma and pa shops, antique stores and fun little restaurants.

I went with some guys from work, Joseph, Ivan and Lem. We didn't spend much time, just browsed around a few of the shops. One of the shops was a holiday decoration store and had a bunch of Halloween thing. Out front was a skeleton on a bench and being the geek that I am, I had to get a picture with the skeleton.

Then me and Lem went to a fun little antique jewelry shop that was independently owned and the owners buy most of the stuff at auctions and fix them up themselves. I ended up buying a beautiful gold locket which was the most I have ever spent on Jewelry but I do love it. I haven't taken a picture of it yet, but I'm sure I will and probably post a blog about it. :)
Finally we ended up at a really good Japanese restaurant. We had already eaten lunch but was more like a mid-afternoon snack. We sat outside and enjoyed the slightly cool air. It was a beautiful weekend, not too cold, but not too hot.

Later that night our boss want us to go out as a team. We went to The Richbrau Brewery in Downtown Richmond. The food was not at all impressive, but after dinner we went upstairs where they had billiards, an arcade and a dance floor. The night was too early and so there was no one on the dance floor, but we did all play billiards which was a ton of fun. I actually mostly played my boss and got killed every time. Oh well, I've never claimed to be a pool shark. Getting my butt kicked in billiards was too much fun to stop and take pictures so my pictures are of the team at dinner and me standing in front of some old looking brewing machine.

First Post

Lately I have been wanting to write down some of my thoughts and since that is what blogs are for I have created one. Plus maybe if I keep up on this and write in my own I'll actually remember to read some of my family and friend's blogs. Although one of my problems with blogging is that I think certain things at certain times, so when I sit down to blog I'm sure I won't have anything to say.

Although one of my thoughts today was to talk about fall. I'm on the east coast this year and am excited to get to see the beautiful trees change colors. Many of them have already changed colors and they are the most vibrant reds. Although it's still not as colorful as I expected, however it may be to early or I am too far south. I've heard main is the must see fall place. I found an article naming their favorite places in the world to see fall foliage and sadly Virginia didn't make the cut. Here's the website if you want to see some beautiful fall pictures and also a picture of me with my friend Joseph and the beautiful reds here in Virginia.
